Artist Biography
Bharat Chauhan is a Delhi-based singer-songwriter known for his melancholic, psychedelic sound. Born in Himachal Pradesh and raised in Kullu, he came to music without any plans of making a career out of it — he held a government job before leaving it to pursue music full-time. He has been writing songs since 2010 and released his first EP, Ehsaas, in 2016.
Chauhan writes in Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. His music places a heavy emphasis on lyrics, striking a balance between calm and desolation, with poetry built from an intricate weave of words.
His latest album, Qurbat, blends acoustic, heavy/trippy, rock, and psychedelic influences. First conceived in 2019, the album only began taking shape this past January. Released on October 30th, each song draws from Chauhan’s own life experiences. “Every song in this album is personal to me. They are my personal stories,” he says. Qurbat was recorded in Delhi at Ghar Ka Studios with Ritwik De and Amar Pandey, and at LotusTree Studios.
