Chaand/Chand (चाँद)

Origin: Hindi

Chand is an Hindi word, it means “the moon” in English, while in Hindi it’s also called as “chandrama/चन्द्र्मा.”

For eg: “Chand taare, tod laoon” which means, “I’ll break off, the moon & stars.”

Chand is an Urdu word, it means “how many/how much/few/how often/how long” in English, while in Hindi it’s called as “kitne/कितने, kitna/कितना, kuch/कुछ, kitni baar/कितनी बार, kitni der/कितनी देर.”

For eg: “Chand lamhaat ke, waaste hi sahi, muskurakar mili thi mujhe zindagi” which means, “though, for a few moments, but life met me with a smile.”
