However, he never had planned to participate in any reality show as he has planned to visit Mumbai in 2014 to start his struggle, but destiny had planned something else for him. He got selected at the first place itself from Indore for “SaReGaMaPa Lil Champs season 2”. On the opening ceremony of ‘Lil Champs 2’, he sang ‘Dard-E-Disco’ which was loved by the audience. Though Rohit didn’t make it to the finals but he was one of the favourite contestants of that season. Later, he participated in Zee Marathi’s “SaReGaMaPa”, where he was one of the finalists. According to Rohit, it was the toughest competition for him. Soon after that, he got a call from Zee TV for “SaReGaMaPa Mega Challenge”, which was a State War where all the popular contestants from past seasons had to battle against each other. He represented team Maharashtra in the show along with Vaishali Made & Kaushik Deshpande. It was crucial a stage of Rohit’s career as his voice was changing, from the little champ, he was turning into a mature singer. However, he evolved as the winner of the Mega Challenge, which also marked the 1000 episodes of SaReGaMaPa. After this mega success, people started recognising him as ‘Lil Champ Rohit Raut’.
After ‘Mega Challenge’, Rohit composed few of his own songs and approached music director Pankaj Padghan. Padghan helped him to build his career as he offered him ‘Yara Yara’ song from Sanjay Jadhav’s movie “Duniyadari”. From this movie, he learned a lot as previously he was just a performer & a reality star but from “Duniyadari” he learned studio techniques and got a chance to be a playback singer. After “Duniyadari”, he received offers from various music labels. He sung for the movies like “Rakhandar” and “Gaav Thor Pudhari Chor”. Along with the movies, Rohit has also lent his voice for the serials like “Be Dune Daha” & “Ka Re Durava”. Meanwhile, he got another offer from Sanjay Jadhav for his movie “Pyaar Vali Love Story”, where he sung “Shutter Ka Talla” along with Amitraj. In the end of 2014, he sung a romantic song along with Anandi Joshi for the movie “Candle March”. The title of the song was “Seher” and it was composed by Amitraj. In his young career, he has sung for the renowned music directors like Amitraj, Pankaj Padghan, Ashok Patki, Praful Karlekar and more. He also lent his voice for the remake of the popular Marathi play “Moruchi Maushi”.
Meanwhile, Rohit also planned to form his own band, Hard-Rock or Indi-Rock band. While searching musicians for his band, he approached musician Manish Kulkarni for help. Through Manish, he met his Bass Guitarist Vibhav Kulkarni. Later through Vibhav, he met Sridhar Menon and got Lead Guitarist for his band. Soon they also found their Drummer Mann Bipin and then the ‘Gust’ was formed. When the group was formed, they were thinking to have a unique name for the band. Sridhar was the one who suggested the named ‘Gust’ which means ‘Rush of Wind’. The band has performed at many events. Along with the band, Rohit has also performed with Sridhar at the Konkan areas. However, Gust got its big break though the movie “Shutter” starring Sachin Khedekar & Sonalee Kulkarni. They have also performed a song at the ‘Chirayu Awards 2014’.
How Rohit & Sridhar got closed? During their first band nightout, they decided to have a jamming session. As Rohit & Sridhar were the only two who were awake till night, they composed a fresh song. That’s when they both got tuned with each other and decided to compose the music as duo Rohit-Sridhar apart from their band ‘Gust’. In 2014, Rohit-Sridhar launched their debut professional song titled ‘Vitthal’ sung by Mangesh Borgaonkar. For the first time, Abhanga (Devotional Poetry) was composed in a dubstep style. After ‘Vitthal’, Kartik Nishandar one of the head of marketing company introduced them to the director of “Avatarachi Goshta”, Nitin Dixit. Nitin offered them a promotional song ‘Dokyacha Zhala Bhaza’, which they composed within 7 hours.
