Artist Biography
Geet Sagar is an Indian film Singer, who has worked predominantly in Bollywood. Geet has worked in popular movies like Chhichhore, Nautanki Saala. Geet’s previous film to hit the theatres was Chhichhore in the year 2019.
Geet’s family is based in Gwalior, where he grew up, comprising his father, mother and a younger sibling. He was briefly married to singer and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2007 contestant, Sumedha Karmahe in 2016, and the couple divorced in 2018.
Geet trained in Indian classical vocal music under the mentorship of Sanjay Devle, and later, French vocal coach, Gilles Denizot. Sagar became a radio jockey in Gwalior and worked for 91.9 FM Radio Lemon from 2007 to 2009. Soon after, he was to make his journey from someone who curated music to someone who made music.
Geet auditioned for the first and only Indian edition of the music talent show, X Factor in 2011. He was selected among the finalists and was mentored by Shreya Ghoshal – one of the three judges of the show, the other two being Sonu Nigam and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Although among the favourites, Geet faced tough competition from Nigam’s protégé, Seema Jha and Bhansali’s mentees, the Sajda sisters. However, with immense public support through voting, Geet emerged the winner. He was 27 at the time. He took home the prize amount of Rs. 50 lakh, a Manza car, and the promise of an opportunity to sing a song in a Karan Johar film.
Geet’s playback singing debut, however, happened only in a Rohan Sippy film titled ‘Nautanki Saala!’ which released in 2013. His solo was titled ‘Draamebaaz’, the music for which was given by Mikey McCleary. Since then, he has lent his voice for tracks of several Bollywood films, such as ‘Jagga Jasoos’, ‘The Tashkent Files’, and ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ among others.
He has also sung jingles for a lot of high end brands such as Pepsi, Dominoes Pizza, Fun Foods, Cinthol, Rin, etc. As an artiste, he performs live shows for a range of clients and for different occasions, and has regaled audiences at college fests, corporate events, weddings, etc. He makes popular covers too, and his work can be seen on his Youtube channel. He is also a poet and a lyricist, and shares his work on his poetry channel called Sandook. He also does theatre and features in ad films and web series.
